Indianapolis, USA, Jun 12 (efe-epa).- The quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, Andrew Luck, said Tuesday he would be fit and healthy for the start of the 2018 National Football League season.

Luck, who missed all of last year with a shoulder injury that has threatened to end his playing career, told reporters after a training session that he was looking forward to actively participating in this summer’s training camp, according to a report by

«Yeah, absolutely», Luck said when asked if he would be ready for the Colts’ season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

«No knock on wood, I’m going to be there, I’ll be playing», Luck added. «I believe it in my bones».

«The goal, more short term, is to be ready for training camp, to be able not just to participate but to get better, and see what we can make of this year’s Colts», he said.

Indianapolis ended the 2017 season third in their division, the AFC South, with a losing record of 4-12.

The quarterback underwent surgery on his right shoulder in Jan. 2017, after missing the entire regular season.

On Tuesday, he threw about 20 balls, none of which exceeded 25 yards, using a lighter pigskin that the one used in the NFL.

Although still in its early stages, Luck’s recovery and return to full fitness appears to be underway.

If he if fit to start the season’s curtain-raiser, it would be Luck’s first regular season game since Week 7 of the 2016 season.
